BioShock Infinite’s Elizabeth was born with the ability to tear portals in time and space, then learned to pick locks anyway, then sat patiently in prison until a penis arrived to save her. Ellie from The Last of Us is immune to an apocalyptic virus, learns new weapons faster than Neo, and has stabbed more enemies to death than Wolverine. But as soon as the guy turns up, she dissolves into tears and nursing. She could be machetifying a rapist cannibal into sashimi, but if the hero arrives she’ll instantly collapse into helpless tears, safe in his arms. Because that’s exactly what happens.
The protagonists, on the other hand, are such anonymous manly men that we’re not even going to bother with their names. You already know they’re white, stubbly, grizzled, dark-haired gun platforms. Their only advantages are the magic balls that fix them as the center of any narrative universe. And they’ve already lost their own girl earlier, because why on Earth would a man care about a woman without prior cause? The woman’s struggle becomes a stand-in for the man’s loss, her entire narrative is just a piece of his, and he scribbles “Daddy makes it all better” all over her ending.

I REALLY don’t agree with the Last of Us part.

The part they’re referring to is when Ellie is killing David. At this point of the story the other main hero, Joel, was severely injured and bedridden. Ellie got caught after hunting for food for the both of them and a sequence leading the cannibal AWAY from Joel ensues. So at the point with David, her adrenaline is high as hell.
Then she breaks down seeing Joel, who she literally had no clue if he was alive or not considering he had to rely on Ellie to care for him. Crying doesn’t mean weakness.

tfw Jasper coerced Lapis into fusing with her which is a completely unsubtle metaphor for abusive relationships….which is a perfectly good reason for multiple people in the fandom to not want to see more of her…………………………………………………..
Coercion involves using force or threats to make someone do something. Jasper is a huge asshole, but at least recognize the real reasons she’s a huge asshole. She isn’t a beautiful cinnamon roll but she also is not a rapist ffs.

So seriously, she’s a good ANTAGONIST without tacking shit onto her she didn’t even do, and you’re missing out on a lot of really cool character development with Lapis by turning her into a freaking woobie that can’t defend herself. Lapis in most of the episode was in a state of apathy. We know she could have kicked the crystal gem’s butts easily by herself, Jasper wasn’t going to be a physical threat to her at all, especially with the ocean right there. She wanted to give up, be left alone. Complete apathy that even disappointed Steven. Complete apathy that made her turn away and let Peridot fire a laser at him, with not even a word. She tried to help him, yeah, but when things did not go as planned he was on his own.
Speaking of words: “Lapis, listen, fuse with me!”
“How long did they keep you trapped here on this miserable hunk of rock?“ “These gems, they’re traitors to their homeworld. They kept you prisoner. They used you. This is your chance to take revenge! Come on, just say yes.” She didn’t threaten to hurt her. At all. She was trying to sway her against a common enemy. No threat of physical harm, nothing. Not even a “or you’ll be sorry!” You could say pressure but again, not under a threat of violence. Canonly, stated by the creators, FUSIONS CANNOT BE FORCED. Jasper knew she was beaten on her own so she knew fusion, which she hated, was her only chance at completing her mission, and so she grabbed Lapis and ASKED. Asked not with physical threats, but a reminder what the crystals gems did and the planet she wanted to get away from.
Jasper–who lost to Garnet when she had no “fancy tools”–ASKED, and Lapis, a very powerful gem who we KNOW can take on at least three other gems with her own gem broken, agreed and then refused to let Jasper go. When Malacite was being dragged into the ocean, we see Jasper is terrified and thier faces split, with Lapis yelling “I’m done being everyone’s prisoner! Now you’re MY prisoner, and I’m NEVER LETTING YOU GO!” Jasper screamed “NO!” So quick question.
Who asked, who forced?

Asexuality is to sexuality as atheism is to theism. It’s not another type of thing, it’s the lack of it altogether. I honestly don’t think it belongs with LGBT. It’s just not the same issue.
I thought LGBTA was a safe space for all people of different sexual orientation

And considering I grew up thinking I was broken and something was wrong with me until I got education outside school and figured out who I was with LGBTA sites and people.
I grew up with family members saying they were disappointed I would never have children. You haven’t met the right person yet! You need therapy, there’s something wrong with you. Everyone needs someone to be complete! You just need to try harder!
I forced relationships because I believed those fucking lies. I let people coerce me into doing things deep down I know I didn’t want. And I still felt nothing. Men? Well no, I have close friends, had people I cared for but I feel nothing. Women? Anyone? Same fucking result. NOTHING.
I WISH I could have easily known what I was then. it would have saved me so much pain.
I wish someone told me it was okay to want a close relationship without anything sexual. That I didn’t need to fuck someone to make a relationship meaningful. That a close platonic relationship is just as valid.

Things wrong with your argument
1) Suggesting that LGBT only stands for what gender you are willing to sleep with. To say that LGBT is only about sex is disgusting. Relationships are much more than who you want to bang.
2) Your statement sounds like that a relationship/sexuality is only valid with sex. This is VERY bad because this type of thinking leads to correctional rape. Also it leads to partners pressuring sex on others because “everyone should want sex”. [As a grey ace I’ve been pressured into sex and guilt tripped to do other things that I didn’t want to because my partner thought they could “change me”]
3) Don’t compare atheism and theism with sexuality. Atheism/Theism is a choice.
4) Even if we were to compare, what about grey aces? Are they the agnostic to sexuality??? Like that alone sounds silly. Yes, I understand your comparison isn’t suppose to be taken literally. However, that itself is the issue. I can’t take your comparison seriously because its just too metaphorical to be applied.
Honestly, to me it sounds like you aren’t aware of ace issues. You should really read up on what aces struggle with everyday, I think you will come to understand them a lot better.
Also, it would be interesting for you to question what a relationship is and how that applies to sexuality itself.(What is a relationship? What is sexuality? How does gender roles in society influence this? ect, ect, ect) I feel like you will find some interesting things!
I always felt isolated and alone with the problems I faced, and heard many other asexuals who felt the same. I keep expecting no one else understanding but I keep forgetting I’m not alone, and it really helps.

tenafly is a lady who likes to defend bronies in arguments, pretty much. My first interaction with her was during DWM, when she called a teenage girl a cunt and an attention whore for not liking rape jokes. She would often wade into discussions to defend rape jokes and to call anyone speaking against them silly new age feminists, not like real feminists from back in her day. I guess you can see more examples of her behaviour in this tag but w/e to be honest I try to avoid her because she’s really aggressive and creepy. Like, specifically searching out a teenage girl on websites to bully her despite being over 30 years old levels of creepy.
Bronies like to link to her in arguments because women very rarely agree with them so the fact that she agrees with their bigoted trash leads them to hold her up in a kind of “see?? this woman agrees with us, so we’re not sexist!!” kind of thing. Linking to her is kind of a godwin’s law thing at this point though, it’s like, if someone links to tenafly to prove their point then they’ve revealed that they only care about biased information that reinforces their own opinions so there’s no point continuing the discussion.

She came to kriscastle’s dA on their pro-consent pic to call them a “straw feminist”. Comments had to be disabled. Kriscastle is a survivor of sexual abuse. The damn picture only said “Everypony deserves consent”. “Everpony Deserves Consent”: OH MY GOD SO POLITICAL A MOUTHPIECE HOLY CRAP. In a fandom where these characters are too often used as a “mouthpiece” for noncon and abuse porn, and other such wildly OOC bullshit, Tenaflyviper attacked a survivor for daring to say everyone deserves consent, and will staunchly defend the pieces of shit that make pro-rape edits out of pro-survivor messages. Survivors only appear to count if they agree with her.
Oh, hey, that “batshit insane psychopath” comment is new. Looks like she DOES go looking for arguments, that picture was put up ages ago. Name-calling is only okay if Tenaflyviper does it, btw. If it’s thrown back at her, she will say it’s “childish”. I’d love to see her detailed diagnosis of that one, though, I had no idea she was a psychologist! She said she painted houses! Despite the fact that RAINN said there were “systematic barriers” to consider in the problem of rape, she took this as a cue to gloat there was no rape culture, despite RAINN President Scott Berkowitz’s own clarification that yes, there are societal factors at work in the one assault every two minutes statistic. He deflected the term because he feels it may alienate allies. The debate is in the terminology, not whether or not the problem exists.
RAINN doesn’t think rape jokes are funny, either. And in the tossup of pony art being used to make rape jokes and rape pornography, or survivors of abuse using the ponies to promote consent, guess which side Tenaflyviper is on. She absolutely ignored this link every time I brought it up in my dealings with her.
RAINN has campaigned to remove pro-rape “joke” material. I have no doubt if RAINN were presented by the pro-rape edits of survivors and other artists work, and the stories behind the harassment, they would not be crying “muh free speech” like Tenaflyviper does.
Speaking of convenience again, if you wade through 36 pages (!) of rants devoted to Pinkiepony, you will see this nugget, where she tries to dramatically accuse this girl of something that she did not even say. How do I know? I was the one who said it—well, I said something, just not as exaggerated as this person loves to make absolutely everything. And the point about Susan G. Komen and Pornhub still stands when /mlp/ remains a cesspool of noncon “jokes” and they had threads at the time devoted to speaking of raping a minor who dared say “rape jokes aren’t funny”. Huh, RAINN said that too. Suppose /mlp/ sent them hate mail and threats too? Or is a minor on the internet just easy pickings and confronting RAINN would take actual IRL conviction?
Ah, charity. My fiance and I are at the poverty line, but we’re still one of the biggest donors to our local food bank. Tenaflyviper dismissed that as “cute”….but then went on a foaming capslock rant how she’s at the poverty line but “gives of herself”, just not to charity. It’s only worthwhile if Tenaflyviper deems it so.
TL;DR: Every bit as rabid and hypocritical as any “social justice warrior” she writes about. I’m sure she’s great if you want to believe what she’s saying. Otherwise, I’d recommend side-eyeing all these double standards.
