Like Sunshine said, learning to draw Discord was and is a challenge. Chrysalis can be expressive, but she doesn’t have near the rubber face that Discord has. It’s been a challenge!

First pic was my first solo attempt in the reboot as penciller of the first entry. It’s a cheat, though. I’ve always had luck with distorting his face in a super-cartoony way.

2 - But “serious” Discord? I set to work in OpenCanvas trying random expressions, with Kristy’s coaching in the red lines.

3&4 - I was chuffed when she said I was picking up her way of drawing him so fast, lmao.

5&6&7 - This is a good illustration of how interlocked we are in the creative process. Something was just lacking in my attempts at his expression in the last panel. I knew what I wanted to do, I knew the line of action I wanted their bodies in, but I am still not used to that big noodle loaf! Sunshine lined over mine in the red frame, and then I refined it for the final draft.

I’m currently storyboard/penciller mainly, but the more I remember how 2 Manga Studio EX, the more I’m afraid Sunshine will try to get me to color. >_>
