I absolutely love and support oc/canon pairings and people who RP NPCs. Keep doing your thing, you’re great and I probably Ship The Ship, too.
But I think it’s a little unrealistic to show up to large, real-time events and expect everybody to accept your presence or your ship, especially if you’re playing/shipping with someone especially significant to the storyline. Tact and caution are necessary.
Or, y’know, by all means, show up, but be realistic about the fact that not everybody is going to want to interact with you. It’s nothing personal.
Agreed!
NPC player and a multishipper, our small group of NPC players tend to mostly keep to ourselves. Rare occasions we’ll be asked to attend events like a wedding, or we may do small public RP in in-game events where they make sense. The murder mystery in the gold saucer event for example, our Hildibrand group did some shenanigans in there in good fun.
As for RPing a ship, that tends never leaves our private RP. I honestly try to avoid crowds or regular RP hotspots because that last thing I want to do is step on someone’s toes. Doesn’t stop some people from calling us a douche or emoting disapproval, but it minimizes it.
BUT
As a NPC player, I have a certain pet peeve. I don’t mind people taking screenshots, power to you if you even ask be first! I’m mostly like happy to pose along with you in that case, with a IC line or two. I don’t mind if you ship the NPC I play with your own OC, but please respect my own boundries as well.
What I really don’t like is if I randomly AFK sitting off in a corner and I see someone I don’t know sitting in my lap with gpose on. Or just dryhumping my character, try to initiate ERP, or being outright gross to me in general. :/
