I don’t know how such a large chunk of the Steven Universe fandom can apparently be so horrible and toxic when love and acceptance and forgiveness is such a huge theme of the show. I get it, it’s kind of a gross ship and you don’t have to like it, but what the hell, guys? How can you honestly value a fictional character over a real person? How is one person’s weird ship hurting you personally? 

This is the “Someone Drew Rose Skinny (years before we saw her full body)” debacle all over again. If you’re really wishing death on someone, ON A REAL ACTUAL PERSON WHO PROBABLY HAS A FAMILY AND LOVED ONES, because you think they have a bad ship or whatever, please reevaluate your priorities. I’m not even really mad, you guys. I’m just really sad and disappointed that such a wonderful show inspires people to act so hateful sometimes.

posting those is harmful because 1) it can bring back traumatic memories for people who have survived abuse and pedophilia, and 2) there are kids in this fanbase. if they see that shit, they’re gonna’ learn it’s normal, or get scarred by it, or get in trouble with their parents. it can seriously put lives in danger and it needs to stop. lesbian erasure ships are also bad because gay people desperately need positive representation in children’s media, so when people ship a canon lesbian with a man and pretending they’re bi (there is nothing wrong with being bi but calling a lesbian bi is bad) is taking away vital representation that helps us fit in with society and love ourselves, too. no one is “wishing death” on anyone, we’re just asking them to stop posting toxic content for the safety of other people. most of those also go against tumblr’s guidelines anyway so it’s not like you should be posting them in the first place.
