Yeah don’t think I could ever vote Undertale over Ocarina of Time, and I blame nostalgia. Was musing how much that game meant to me personally earlier today.
Read more for me rambling about the “good ol days” or something
I think I was around 10-11 when I got it (1999 I think?). I got a N64 that christmas and that was the first console that was mine, and it was my first n64 game I owned.
I wasn’t even good at it. Took a year before I actually beat it, and I never beat the shadow temple on my own until years later on my gamecube copy (Sorry Perry).
yeah perry had to beat this creepy asshole for me :l
Mostly ran around amazed/terrified at the world over actually doing most dungeons. Redeads gave little sheltered me nightmares, I apparently I locked dead hands away in my memory.
can you blame 11 year old me though??
Still got the Nintendo strategy guide. I remember loving it because it read more like a story and had huge pictures of the official art. Finding good references to draw Ganondorf was such a pain, and that was a godsend.
Even finding fan art of Ganondorf was really troublesome back then. I’m jealous of how quickly people can get together and enjoy, create, and share so much now. Internet definitely felt much smaller back then.
And I found Tara because she drew a Ganondorf I really really liked for her yahoo RP group. I was a tint tot and was far too intimidated to try to apply then.
OoT was the game that started to push me drawing wise too. I remember drawing comics with Zelda characters with my friend Perry in middle school and pushing myself as years went.
I think I was 13-16 when I did these? Back when I inked traditionally, scanned the page, and then fixed the panels with Photoshop 6.0. Melee was out by then I think and holy shit those trophies helped SO MUCH for references.
OoT was also the game I dug and searched for every detail I could to try to understand how a character worked.
fuck this pic is already 4 years old? Where the hell does time go now?
