So most of you should know by now that I’ve already done a review on Splatoon. Well, in less than 3 minutes anyway. I don’t regret anything I said in that video, and I still think the game is good - but stepping back and looking at it fully - I wish I saved that video for a Current Quickie of…
I agreed with your complaints about the low amount of stages to play on when online and private matchmaking with friends but I can’t get behind the lack of voice chat. I just don’t see how that’s an issue. I’m not saying it’s a good thing it’s not in there, but I’m not saying it’s a bad one either. I get that people want to strategize with their teams, but I think part of the cool part about Splatoon is that the objective is so self explanatory and always the main goal that there’s no real need for that type of communication.
Plus, it’s Nintendo. I’m not really sure why people would think that they’d let you talk to strangers when their brand as a whole is very geared towards kids. The amount of f-bombs I know I personally drop on people when I play is pretty crazy because I’m so caught up in the action and I know I’m not the only one who does it.
I can see why people would want this for when custom friend lobbies come out though.
EDIT: Also I think the writing is pretty cute, friendo. (It’s corrupted me.)
the amount of abuse even miiverse posts gets in that game is reason enough not to include voice chat.
But yeah game is definitely bare bones and kinda annoying on disk content is being gated, and a good chunk of single player is gated by amiibo.
BUT its good quick fun thats easy to jump into. Has a good amount of problems, voice chat isn’t one.
