I still physically can’t go home yet, but my mom as able to check the house. Seems we did sustain flood damage downstairs. Still no power either.

I’m hoping I can go home soon but the whole town is landlocked.

I mean I’m glad I know the extent of the damage but not being able to do a damn thing about it is killing me.

I’ve sat through every hurricane on the coast for thirty years. I’ve never had to evacuate before. My area has never been this bad before, period.

Thank you so much Beth for giving us a place to stay til we can go home.

I still feel a bit numb and useless. I hope we can recover soon.

Florence update

My mom stayed and she is ok, but the town got hammered hard by florence. I’ve NEVER seen a mandatory evacuation call in my area before, and stayed for every storm including Ivan relatively unscathed.

Lots of people in my neighborhood had to be rescued via boat, I def made the right call to evacuate. I am safe, roomies are safe , and our parrot is safe and warm.

I have no idea when we can go home, the rains are still pretty bad. And florence is so slow and just sitting there.

My town got a mandatory evacuation notice today. We left early this morning and already more north and inland and just woke up to the news. Gas stations were insane when we left.

Hurricane Florence

Eastern NC here. Prepping for the storm, we at least have a plan in place and have food/water. Please stay safe everyone!
