ALl of your wonderful Pewey work helps me to ignore the haters. Thank you very much. I love Pewey because of fans like you who make the most beautiful pieces of work for it.
I’m glad my work helps! But I know these bullies make it difficult–their abuse finally wore me down in the end, and I needed to move away from SU altogether for a while. But I’m back, and it feels good again!
The thing you have to remember with these bullies is context. When they consistently say disturbing things like this:
Or this:
Or this:
–it’s a LOT easier to realize they don’t really care about erasure. They only care about what they personally don’t like, and they will walk over and talk over anyone else in the community to try to silence them. They consistently call queer shippers straight to misrepresent the argument. They call bisexuality an “excuse for shipping someone with a man”. They refuse to consider Amethyst taking male forms is representation, because it isn’t representation they want to see. (On a personal note, the weird double standard of saying “you’re not a lesbian like me, so you can’t defend yourself when I call yourself a lesbophobe, BUT LET ME TELL YOU HOW THIS SHIT I’M SAYING IS NOT BIPHOBIC AT ALL” is another tipoff that they don’t think these things through.)
They’ve attacked the Crewniverse themselves for ships. Hell, even Rebecca Sugar’s and Ian Jones-Quartey’s relationship wasn’t off-limits–when it was revealed they have been together for many years, the disappointment that she “needed to find a girl” instead of respecting who she does love made me feel sick.
“If you wait to tell kids, to tell queer youth that it matters how they feel or that they are even a person, then it is going to be too late. You have to let it be what it gets to be for everyone….You are told that you should dream about love, this fulfilling love that you are going to have….like the Prince and Snow White are not someones parents. They are something you want to be and are dreaming of a future where you will find happiness Why shouldn’t everyone have that? It’s really absurd to think that everyone shouldn’t get to have that.”
Queer. Every letter in the acronym. Everyone. Not this gatekeeping bullshit that anti-shipping bullies hypocritically and abusively try to enforce. We are encouraged, all of us, to find ourselves in these wonderful queer characters.
Steven Universe is meant for us all. It’s the bullies who need to step off.
did anyone ever actually read animorphs or did we all just glance at the covers and assume it needed no explanation on the way to the goosebumps section in our elementary school library
animorphs is a scifi series about the grey morality of war and child soldiers experiencing trauma, depression, PTSD, being frequently and brutally dismembered, disemboweled, literally tortured to the brink of death, forced to murder their own family members with their bare hands, and on page 22 of the very first book they watch the alien prince who gave them their ~wacky animal morphing powers~ scream while be eaten alive in vivid and gory detail
One dude permanently turned into a bird for a while, forgot how to make facial expressions when he was a human and ate roadkill. And that was one of the tamer things.
You know the starfish cover everyone likes to mock especially? The girl beat someone to death with her own severed arm in that one :)
What the fuck did I miss out on
I still vaguely remember the starfish one, she got cut in half–
“ A sea-star arm can only regenerate into a whole new organism if some of the central disk of the sea star is part of the chopped off arm."
So she formed into two separate people/personalities, I loved that series lol
